Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet / 1,800 metres) For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves; it is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the state of Arizona. On Feb 26, 1919 U.S. President Woodrow Wilson signs an act of U.S. Congress establishing most of Grand Canyon as a National Park. Also considered as one of the seven wonders of the world.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a botanical garden in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City. Located near the Prospect Heights, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and Park Slope neighborhood area. on friday December 21st 2012 baritone Christopher Dylan Herbert presents a new realization of Franz Schubert’s Winterreise (winter journey), a song cycle that sets to music 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller. There are three entrances:

Roosevelt Island Lighthouse

Roosevelt Island Lighthouse is a stone lighthouse built by New York City in 1872, but purchased by New York City in 1828. Several facilities were built on the island such as a penitentiary, almshouse, city hospital, the New York Lunatic Asylum, and a smallpox hospital. The lighthouse is approximately 50 feet (15 m) tall. The other fact is that Roosevelt Island was known as Welfare Island from 1921 to 1973. It is narrow island in the East River of New York City between Manhattan and the borough of Queens.

Super Storm Sandy floods Brooklyn battery Tunnel

The Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel connects the borough of Brooklyn on Long island to Manhattan, and was officially named after former New York Governor Hugh Carey in December 2010. The tunnel opened to traffic on May 25, 1950 after nearly ten years of construction which was started on October 28, 1940 by the New York City Tunnel Authority. The massive storm Sandy on Tuesday October 30 2012 hit New York City (the worst storm in over 180 years in New York City) and many parts of the eastern United States with epic flooding and extensive power outages.

Duke Ellington on 110thst

The sculpture of Edward Kennedy Ellington at 110th Street and Fifth Avenue is the first monument in New York City dedicated to an African American and the first memorial to Ellington in the United States. Duke Ellington stands in Duke Ellington Circle, a shallow amphitheater at 110th Street and Fifth Avenue, at the northeast corner of Central Park and unveiled in 1997.

Details: "Duke Ellington Sculptor Robert Graham, 1997 Frawley Circle, Fifth Avenue & 110th Street, Manhattan Bronze, gilding, granite is 25 feet (7.6 m) tall, and depicts the Muses — nine nude caryatids — supporting a grand piano and Duke Ellington on their heads."

Boulder Dam

Ansel Easton Adams (February 20, 1902 – April 22, 1984) was an American photographer and environmentalist, best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West, especially in Yosemite National Park.
