Garment Worker

The Garment District in NYC is located on the west side of Manhattan from about 25th street up to 42 street, and is also known as the Garment Center, the Fashion District, or the Fashion Center. The Garment Worker  is a life sized bronze sculpture by Judith Weller, depciting an immigrant man at a sewing machine. Weller came to the United States as an exchange student from Tel Aviv in 1957, and in 1978 submitted a 24-inch sculpture of her tailor father to the exhibition of the National Sculpture Society. This statute is in display On 7th Avenue between 39th and 40th st.
