Diego Rivera was born in Guanajuato, Mexico in 1886 and began painting at an early age; Rivera encountered the works of such great masters as CĂ©zanne, Gauguin, Renoir, and Matisse. He began to study Renaissance frescoes of Italy which are mural paintings done on fresh plaster. Diego is Considered the greatest Mexican painter of the twentieth century and his romance with Frieda Kahlo were a source of public intrigue. The above painting is titled "Peasants" and was produced in 1931.
